Wage and Labor Market in Agriculture: Some Components

Economists tend to assume primacy of spot/casual labor markets; and attempt to explain why long term contracts may or may not exist. The paper critically examines such perspective and argues that long term contracts may have been the norm in agriculture labor market. It is also argued why daily/casual labor markets in agriculture may only be rationalized in the presence of non-agriculture sector.
