Accidentally discovered this old article published in Bangladesh Unnayan Sameekhya of BIDS back in 1986. It was the first where I put my neck out to suggest that there is a broader unity in methods and the latter is not as ideologically biased as we pose those to be in the sphere of politics. Reflecting on trends in social and economic research (ironically, not much have changed since then) in Bangladesh, it is proposed that the ideological biases get reflected in choice of research topics and methods can only be discussed in the context of a given topic having specific objectives.
